Asia with a Western twist.
In 1997, life partners Carol Gregg and Gary Thompson recognized that her keen eye for design and his experience trading in Asia might provide the elements for a business, something that would allow them to travel and work together. They took the plunge later that year and began to import Chinese antiques. The couple soon discovered that competition in this niche was fierce, and in a bid to distinguish themselves, segued into Chinese reproductions which they finished in rich and unexpected colors, like sunflower yellow and cerulean blue. Today, Red Egg continues as an accent furniture company. While we still source and manufacture our cane product in the Philippines, our focus for our wood product is to manufacture all of it here in the USA. Our entire Double Happiness collection is currently being manufactured here in North Carolina. We are working on new introductions for this collection while developing new collections that will be made here as well. The Cane product from the Philippines is also now being finished in lacquer colors here in the USA. Look for more fresh, Asian inspired accent furniture made in the USA from Red Egg soon. Red Egg was reorganized in 1999 and is now solely owned by Carol Gregg. The company distributes nationwide and operates out of its office in High Point, North Carolina . Red Egg customers range from small shops to large retail concerns like Sak's, Domain, and Neiman Marcus. Red Egg exhibits at the High Point International Home Furnishings Market, and the New York International Gift Shows. Our focus going forward is to establish a national network of select stocking dealers and showrooms.
