Keeping the carpets clean is an ongoing battle. Regularly hoovering your carpets and rugs is important for keeping them looking fresh, keeping your home clean, and preserving your personal health.

Unfortunately, far too many vacuum cleaners are heavy and clunky to use, making it an unpleasant chore to clean the house. This is a problem, as the best vacuum cleaner for your home should be a functional household product and easy to use.

Like all small appliances, the functionality is key. For vacuum cleaners it boils down to one main thing, you want your vacuum to suck.

This basically means that you need to look for a vacuum cleaner with a good strong engine or motor. Many inexpensive household products just don't have the power to clean the floors, especially if you have pets who shed or small children who track things into the house on a constant basis.

Getting and keeping a good strong suction base thus depends on both the motor and your dirt patterns. Some vacuum cleaners pass the debris through the motor as a part of the filtration and collection process. This is fine if your main enemy is a bit of dust. However, if you have hair or larger bits of debris, such as gravel from a path or work site, then you will want to opt for a vacuum cleaner that routes debris directly to the collection bin as a way to get more life out of your purchase.

Ease of use is another important consideration when buying a vacuum cleaner. If you don't like hauling a heavy vacuum up and down the stairs, you will want to be sure that your vacuum has a good hose attachment so you can do your stairs without having to move the machine.

Alternatively, you may want to look into some of the ultra light weight vacuum cleaners, so that you can easily carry and manipulate the vacuum cleaner as you move up and down.

You also want to consider the maneuverability of the vacuum cleaner.

Some vacuum cleaners do not turn well and have a hard time going around curves. You will not want to be afraid to test out the floor path of your potential purchase to make sure to that it can work with the pieces of furniture and wall curves in your home.

In this way you can be sure that you have the best vacuum cleaner to deliver the ease of use and functionality you need to have in your home.
