Gone are the days of wet tabletops and sticky fingers - a race to get the wallpaper up before it’s too late. Newer “paste the wall” papers make hanging wallpaper much easier and more fun.

Here are 5 reasons you should consider making the switch for your next project.

It’s Easy

When you have to paste the paper, you’re in a rush against the clock and you’re also engaged in a battle with the paper. Once that paper is wet, anything that it touches becomes the “target object” for the glue. And, those glues tend to dry really fast - they have to.

The assumption with “paste the paper” wallpapers is that the paper will need to dry pretty much on-contact so that it doesn’t fall off the wall.

In contrast, this home wallpaper uses a “paste the wall” mechanism where the glue actually goes on the wall instead of the paper. This lets you focus on working with the paper, eliminating the need to rush and it makes it much easier to work with since your fingers (and pretty much everything else) isn’t at risk for being glued together.

Working Around Obstacles Is Easier

Working around obstacles, like light fixtures and wall outlets and doors and windows is much easier when you’re using “paste the wall” papers. Instead of having to cut out or trim paper when it’s wet, you can test fit it dry, glue the wall, and make adjustments before you apply glue around whatever happens to be in the way.

You Can Use Scissors

This is a big benefit with “paste the wall” wallpaper. You can use scissors instead of a knife. Scissors are infinitely more precise and easier to control, and you can cut out holes and make adjustments with the paper that are trick or impossible to do with a knife.

You Can Fold It

If you’re trying to get into tight spots with traditional wallpaper, forget about it. It’s just not going to happen - you’ll end up with paper glued to itself. With a “paste the wall” setup, you can creatively “soft fold” the paper and work it into position before the final glue-down.

This opens up a wide range of possibilities, and it means you don’t have to do as much prep before hanging wallpaper since you can work around objects like steam heating systems radiators, and railings, instead of having to move or remove them.

You Can Work At Your Own Pace

When we rush, we make mistakes. Most people know this. And, this is perhaps the biggest benefit of “paste the wall” type papers. You can slow down, take your time, and do the job right the first time. No wrinkles, no frustrating bubbles, and no wasted paper.

If you make a mistake, you can also peel the paper back off and try again, since the glues for these papers take a while to dry. Adding paper to fill in spots is also easier when the paper isn't wet.
