Your windows provide a beautiful design all alone. But you know that window treatments are the icing on the cake, never mind the the antidote for a lack of privacy or to mitigate too much sunlight. 5. Width matters too. So, you’re shopping for curtains and you think you have enough space from side to side. Trouble is, when you hang the curtains they look thin, something you can overcome by going wide. Specifically, shop for curtains that are at least twice the width of the windows. In doing so you’ll have a look that is fuller and richer.

6. Consider your sleeping quarters. Another conundrum is how to cover the windows where you sleep. That answer may have to do with how you use the room beyond sleep and love. If your room also serves as a study, then drapes are ideal. But pair them with a dark shade or blackout blinds to ensure the room remains dark when you are asleep - advises Atlanta Custom Interiors.

7. Intense light can be managed. You have windows that face due east or due west. Trouble is, there is absolutely nothing such as bushes or trees to obscure the light. Blinds and shutters may be the best choice here, but if you’re looking for a more luxurious touch, then go with fabric, especially a UV shade. You’ll pay more for such material, but you’ll also appreciate your investment, never mind the sun control.
