You’re just putting the finishing touches on everything before your in-laws arrive when you hear it, one of the most terrifying sounds a homeowner can possibly hear—the telltale gurgle of a toilet refusing to flush. As much like a sitcom setup as that may seem, real plumbing problems are no laughing matter. Every year countless homeowners face the ramifications of poor plumbing, from foul odour to mould and other consequences of poor sanitation, to the property value of their home diminishing as a result. It goes without saying that proper plumbing inspections are a must—but which parts of the home are most at risk, and which require the most maintenance?

Kitchen and Bathroom

The kitchen and bathroom, unsurprisingly, are the two areas on which you’ll most want to concentrate when it comes time to hire plumbers in Lancashire, or anywhere else for that matter. The plumbing in these areas gets the most use, and they’re the two water sources which are most important in everyday life—you don’t want the water coming out of the kitchen tap to smell funny, and you don’t want the bathroom plumbing to suddenly back up. You should get these pipe systems regular “checkups” to ensure they’re still in good working order and—just as importantly—that no foreign substances such as mould are mixing with your water supply.

Other Areas

Besides the big two, there are other areas that need attending to in terms of your overall plumbing setup. Every pipe and water supply should be checked at least every year or two. If you have a pool, you’ll want to have that regularly checked and treated as well.

Proper plumbing inspections can keep your home smelling like roses, and are thus well worth your time.
