Owned and operated by brothers Brian and Gary Herwood, with offices in Texas and Central Java, Private Island Furniture has been shipping furniture and accessories worldwide since 1999, first as as BaliStuff and JavaBaliExpress, then Bamboo Road. Private Island Furniture is the next level of evolution from selling Indonesian furniture and handicrafts to creating new and innovative designs that utilize the wonderful materials and craftsmanship available to us. We've combined our love of tropical living and materials with designs inspired by fine villas and mid-century Art Deco and Vintage Rattan masters. Our current lines include Urbanity Art Deco, Island Villa, Mod Combo, Revival Rattan and a complete Outdoor Teak program that features two superb deep seating collections. We design and manufacture superior designs, quality furniture crafted of Acacia, Indonesian Oak, Teak, Rattan and other natural materials in a range of design styles. We design each item and use the skills of Indonesian carpenters, carvers and weavers to add hand crafted uniqueness to every piece. We control quality at every step and all of our furniture is exactingly hand finished. We work with reputable factories and subcontractors that comply with local regulations, offer safe working conditions and employ no child labor. We use mostly renewable materials and all of our Teak is from government-controlled plantations which practice sustainable harvesting. Most of our new furniture takes low-solvent water-based finishes.
