Feathers Furniture has been providing furniture to the Capital District (Albany, Saratoga, Clifton Park and Troy) since the 1930's when our grandfather, Burton, opened up a small appliance store in downtown Troy, NY. After World War II, Burton's youngest son, Harry, returned from serving in the South Pacific and joined his father at B.W. Feathers, Inc. Under Harry's direction, the small appliance store soon outgrew the original location and was moved to a large brick warehouse on River Street. The business was expanded to include home furniture.
In 1965 a tragic fire destroyed the River Street location. With much perseverance, Harry rebuilt the furniture business in the capital district on a tract of farmland just outside the city of Troy. The new location opened in 1968.
