Since 1987, Jay has designed and created unique functional art from his studio, Major Pieces, in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Jay is a self-taught craftsman who prides himself on his creativity and commitment to quality workmanship.

Many of Jay's designs for furniture, archways and railings are inspired by nature. He collects logs and twigs for his pieces from the woods near his home and studio. For custom pieces, Jay works closely with his clients to ensure that the piece meets their expectations for beauty, quality, and functionality. Jay has a large base of satisfied clients throughout North America. He is particularly proud of his high percentage of repeat customers, many of whom have become friends and supporters.

Jay's work has appeared in numerous publications including Smithsonian magazine October 2004 issue, "Rustic Furniture" by Daniel Mack and "Log Home Living." The decorative archways Jay created for Woodstock 1999, the 2000 Goodwill Games, and the 2000 Empire State Games were featured on national television and in regional newspapers. Each September, Jay also participates in the juried, invitation-only rustic furniture show at the Adirondack Museum at Blue Mountain Lake, NY.
