What is the difference between a duvet cover bedding set and a comforter bedding set?

I am redecorating my room and the bedding I want is offered in these two different types of packages. Are they the same thing or are they different, and how?

According to me, Duvet and comforter are basically the same things. The difference being that the duvet usually has a cover on it. Because of the cover it can be used in place of a top sheet on the bed. Bedding collection is a coordinated collection of bedding. Much like the popular bed in a bag.
