• Furniture market in Lithuania after coming of Ikea may be reduced

Planed opening of furniture retail chain IKEA store in Lithuania in 2013 will force other market players to step up and those who willrefuse may even go bankrupt.

It is forecasted that the world'slargest furniture retail chain IKEA store will not intimidate only country's niche furniture manufacturers, writes LETA/ELTA, referring to Kauno diena.

Director of Association of Lietuvos Mediena Raimundas Beinortas says that "such great player with all itscapabilities and pricing will certainly affect the trading companies"."Furniture companies operating in the same sector as IKEA will be wiped off the earth," says Beinortas.

However, Director of Economics andFinance Department of Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists Sigitas Besagirskas says that he doesbelieve that IKEA will shake themarket in any particular way. Besagirskas says that a large number ofLithuanian manufacturers are supplying IKEAwith its production; therefore it is unlikely that as the network enterscountry's market its number will go up sharply.
