• The Canadian Furniture Show: A successful 2015 edition!

The 43rd edition of the Canadian Furniture Show, the only national furniture show in the country and the 7th largest trade show in Canada, came to a close Sunday after a successful four days of activities for professionals in the furniture industry, including a Consumer Day, as a new feature.

The Consumer Day, which was held on Sunday, June 7, was among the major changes implemented to ensure the renewal of the 2015 edition. Previously known as The Canadian Home Furnishings Market or TCHFM, the 2015 Show had a new name and logo and was moved from January to June, along with a series of other changes, including a new floor plan that pleased exhibitors and visitors alike.

The Show had 425,000 square feet of furniture showrooms hosted by 245 exhibitors - including 95 new exhibitors - more than double the average of recent years. The changes implemented this year helped to stem the decline the Show has experienced for the last several years, both in the number of exhibitors and trade visitors who came from across the country and enabled exhibitors to do a brisk business. Most of the exhibitors had the chance to meet with their clients, in addition to opening many new accounts. There was also a significant increase in visitors from the United States.

Meanwhile, Consumer Day provided a boost to the event, which has essentially been a trade show for over 40 years. There was a steady flow of consumers on hand to see all the outstanding new products that will be available in stores in the coming weeks.

"2015 was a relaunch year for the Canadian Furniture Show," stated Pierre Richard, President and CEO of the Show. "This was the first time we've had Consumer Day, and our invitation to discover the biggest furniture showroom in the country piqued the public's curiosity. Visitors also had the opportunity to attend design conferences given by the Show's spokesperson, Karen Sealy, and the acclaimed design duo Steven and Chris. Exhibitors were also pleasantly surprised by the significant number of industry buyers who were there on Consumer Day. This day was also aimed at attracting new exhibitors, and the results in that respect were highly positive, and we are proud. The success of the 2015 edition provides us with a solid foundation in our preparations for the 2016 Show."

The Canadian Furniture Show has been held since 1972 and is produced by the Quebec Furniture Manufacturers' Association. The only national furniture show in the country and the 7th largest trade show in Canada, it brings together industry professionals, manufacturers, retailers, designers, and others, from Canada, the United States, and worldwide, to display their latest collections and trends. The 2015 Show was held from June 4 to June 7, at The International Centre, in Mississauga, Ontario; it was open to consumers on Sunday, June 7.
