• Enter to win a new living room furniture set

Are you ready for some ... ugly furniture!
Well, actually, are you ready for some new living room furniture?
If so, we’ve got the contest for you.
Starting today, you can enter for a chance to win a new living room furniture set from Aaron’s of Honesdale. The furniture is valued at nearly $1,600.
“It’s always good to give back to the community,” said Adam Marlin, a principal at the Honesdale business. “We have been doing exceptionally well and grown much faster than expected.”
The contest is a partnership between Aaron’s as well as The Wayne Independent, The News-Eagle, The Carbondale News and The Moscow Villager. It centers around the Super Bowl. The eventual winner of the contest will get the furniture on Feb. 4 — one day before the biggest football game of the year.
“We are pleased to participate in this partnership and look forward to getting as many entries as possible,” said Guy Mathews, media sales executive for the newspaper.
To enter, persons can visit http://contests.dailydealsnepa.com/e...ontestid=46224. Follow the links and fill out the required fields.
Persons will be asked to post a photo of their ugly furniture (including used and abused) as well as submit an essay of not more than 200 words describing why they need to get a new living room set.
You can also stop by the Aaron’s store at 250 Grandview Avenue in Honesdale to look at the new furniture set. The folks at Aaron’s can also assist you with entering the contest.
Part of the contest is being able to garner votes from your friends. You can do so via Facebook, Twitter, email, phone and other means. The top 20 vote getters will then move on to the final round of competition where a winner will be determined. Voting will be open from Dec. 20 to Jan. 30. Visit the web link for the complete rules about the contest.
The essay portion of the contest will determine the winner of the furniture. The news staff at The Wayne Independent will judge the essays and choose the prize winner.
“We look forward to reading these essays,” said Greg Little, editor of the newspaper. “We think there will be some interesting entries and we also know there is a real need out there for many people in these tough economic times.”
That, said Marlin, is the focus of the contest.
“A lot of people out there need furniture,” said Marlin. “We really want to make sure this goes to someone who needs it.”
Added Mathews: “We are proud to be able to partner with such a fine business in our community and be able to give back to the fine residents of this area.”
