Keep Our Floors Fit and Healthy

Rate this Entry
Like your roof, your carpeting and flooring are probably not something you think about all too often. As a homeowner it’s important for a number of reasons to maintain your home and keep it in a state of good repair and condition.

A Healthy Floor is a Healthy Home
We walk on them all the time in bare feet, in slippers, in sneakers, in our good shoes and in our work boots. We trample dirt and grime in from outside in all weather conditions, and find that we need to vacuum everyday just to maintain a semblance of cleanliness. Clearly then, our floors take a beating all year round, and some of the following issues can occur:

  • Over time, dirt and dust get trapped in the deep fibres of carpets, causing damage to occur to the underlay and the structure of the carpet itself. Whilst a vacuum cleaner will suck away any surface dirt, this hidden deep dirt simply builds up over time.
  • Sometimes, insects can even make their homes in the deep fibres of certain carpets and you’ll find that this sort of infestation can stain, damage and discolour your carpet.
  • Cats and dogs are great companions, but sometimes leave little calling cards around the home that can cause odours and acidic damage to carpets, wooden floors and vinyl.
  • Moving furniture, certain shoes and general scuffs and scrapes, can all cause physical damage to vinyl and wooden flooring that will require eventual repair or replacement.

Even the most vigilant of homeowners will struggle to keep all of this general dirt and grime out over a long period of time. But, when you do need to replace your flooring, it’s important to do some research and look around for a reliable flooring specialist, like Telford Flooring, for example.

When to Replace Our Floor
We have to do a lot of work to maintain every aspect of a home. Over time, damage occurs no matter how careful we are, and especially in the case of flooring, we will need to seek out expert help to replace it. This will not only get you a brand new floor, but it will also add value to your home should you ever wish to sell it.
