ID:	10494A marble fireplace can be an elegant addition to any home. When the marble becomes discolored, cracked or outdated, then you would require to redo it to make it look like before.

There are several methods to redo a marble fireplace, depending on how much money, time and effort you want to put into it.

1)Tile over tile

- Use new tile over the old if your marble fireplace is made of tiles.
- Install new marble or use another type of tile to change its look completely.
- Clean the marble of any soot to give it a renewed appearance.
- Tap the new tiles into place, using a rubber mallet.
- Level the new tiles and allow the mortar to dry for 24 hours.

2) Paint the fireplace

- As the fireplace is a dry area, you can paint over the existing marble.
- Use urethane-based primer and topcoat to seal the paint job.
- Paint the surrounding wall of the fireplace with a single, flat color.
- You can also use a faux-marbling technique by rolling on two colors.
- Allow the base coat to dry and then put a double coat.

3)Marble slabs

- You can replace the existing marble with new marble slabs.
- Slabs can be made out of any marble, which can be viewed and selected.

4)New tiles

- You can install new tiles by breaking off the old marble.
- You may need to hang new cement backerboard before installing the new tiles.
