For example, at least a third of UK residents fail to have their roof repaired in time to avoid unnecessary expenses, but this percentage could be significantly reduced if you take the time to simply inspect your roof. If you can, move to a distance of about 20 metres from your home and then look at your roof with a pair of binoculars for any damage or signs of trouble.

Missing Shingles

The most obvious sign that you need your roof repaired or replaced is if you look at your roof and notice a large number of shingles are now missing. This is common after severe weather with high wind speeds or after years of having the same roof in place. Shingles have a lifespan of 20 to 25 years, and it may be time that they be replaced if you know for a fact that they are near the end of this time period.

Leaking

While any leaking could be coming from inside your home, such as from an upstairs bathroom, it is also highly likely to be from the roof system itself. Have a professional inspect your home for any signs of roof damage or ageing that may be the cause of your leak, especially given the fact that a single, small leak can cause severe mildew and mould growth and cause the structural integrity of your property to suffer. No matter if you need just a few repairs or a completely new roof, there are many options from which to choose that could help you save money and time in the long run, such as a metal or ceramic roof.
