Mini Excavators on Landscaping Projects

Rate this Entry
In essence, landscaping is improving the lot where your property is located to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing space. When you finally decide to do landscaping on your property, you may have probably wondered about the expenses, as well as the machines to be used.

But beyond the aesthetic changes that you want for your property, using a mini excavator is a great choice to save time and manpower, which ultimately leads to more money saved.
The ability of mini excavators to move things around, flatten or dig the soil, or maneuver around tight spaces easily make them the ideal machine for landscaping projects. Here’s why:

Do Mini Excavators Work?

For starters, mini excavators work by digging large quantities of soil in most landscaping projects. Without them, you would be using a number of specialized digging equipment and manpower that would’ve taken more time and cost you more.

They are also versatile machines that can perform a plethora of functions, thanks to their ability to be outfitted with special attachments that can increase their functional scope. These include breakers, buckets, augers, clamps, or rakes.

Alongside digging, mini excavators can also drill holes onto the soil using augers, demolish rocks or concrete using breakers, or loosen up the soil using rakes. Having this luxury capabilities on your project allows you to quickly accomplish tasks that would’ve taken a considerable amount of time and manpower to finish.

They are also more compact and maneuverable as compared to their full-sized counterparts. Plus their ability to do 360-degree turns at reduced tail swings make them perfectly suited to do landscaping work in a residential setting where many obstacles are present.

When you use a mini excavator, you also lessen the risk of damaging the soil that may turn into a pool of mud when it rains. They also leave little traces of footprints which also reduces the risk of damage to your gardens and driveways due to their lightweight build.
Lastly, mini excavators are trainee-friendly. You can easily learn how to operate one in a short amount of time and start right away. If you’re taking the DIY approach, operating a mini excavator is something that you would enjoy using.

Weekly or Daily Rates?

Hiring one in your landscaping project poses am important question. Would you be better off with an excavator hire on weekly or daily rates? The answer to this depends on your work requirements. Aside from maximizing machine productivity, choosing the ideal rate for you is another important factor to be more cost-effective.

Usually, the weekly rate is about the same as four to five days of a daily rate. This means that you can hire a mini excavator for four to five days and it all comes out at the same price. However, if you choose the daily rates and end up using the mini excavator for more than a week, the price would come out much more expensive.

Having said that, you should carefully plan all activities ahead on time and come up with a realistic project schedule. Knowing your project duration is key to decide upon daily or weekly excavator hire prices rates.

If you’re sure and confident that you can finish your landscaping project in a few days, then there’s no other reason not to choose the daily rates. If the project will last for weeks, then choose the weekly rate.
