Tufts are used in many different ways in home decor. They are usually used to enhance the appearance of chair pads, pillows and curtains.

A tuft can easily create a fringe and can be used in row with other furnishing or in the corner of a piece. However, this totally depends on the size and material of tuft which is being used. Moreover, tufts can be used in the same color as an item with which they are being used.

They can also be used in a contrasting shade depending on the preference and style of a person.

Tufts, popularly known as Tassels, can be placed evenly along a curtain valance in a kitchen or dining area. A fairly large tuft can be added to the back edges of chair pads and left to hang down. This usually makes the chair pads look unique and visually appealing. Moreover, this is the best idea for people buying economical chair pads from a store and giving them an extra touch of style and color. A tuft also looks attractive while hanging down on one end of a long dining table cloth.

In order to enhance an itemís appearance, it will be better if you first match the heaviness or lightness of the fabric with the thickness of a tuft. For instance, it will not be good to match tufts made of embroidery threads with a velvet pillow. However, a tuft made of embroidery thread will perfectly match with a silk pillow, as both will be light weighted. Bulky or thick thread can be used to make a tuft more suitable for heavy fabrics. You can easily decorate your curtains and pillows with tufts made of different types of threads, both light and heavy.

If you want to add detail to an item, you can use a thick tuft and attach it to a band of cloth. You can use this combination to tie back heavy drapes in your home. On the other hand, fine tufts can be easily used in a row and sewn close.

This will give a solid finger to lightweight curtains when you tie the drapes. Moreover, tufts used as tie backs can also be used for shower curtains. You can tie back your curtains when you want them to be open. You can even make your window coverings look attractive and expensive by using tufts on the bottom edge of shades or pull up blinds in your home.

Whenever you use tufts or tassels for home decor, it is always important to ensure that all the colors blend well with each other. It is not important to perfectly match all the colors with each other. However, you should make sure that an item and the tufts attached to it look like they belong with each other.

You can even make tufts out of a yarn in case you knit your own pillows, blankets, bed sheets etc. Using tufts for home decor not only enhances the visual appeal of your furnishings, but also makes sure that your interior looks unique and different.
