For over 20 years Hearthwoods has been creating extraordinary urban primitive and rustic furniture, architectural accents and outdoor structures. Since our beginning we have focused on using reclaimed wood, revealing its natural beauty while adding design and purpose. Each piece is made by skilled craftsman in our Michigan workshop, with quality always in the forefront. Our furniture is built to last from one generation to the next. Our command of different styles allows us to build for the cabin, the cottage, the contemporary house and the elegant home.

"GREEN" Materials
We have always used reclaimed wood from barns, old buildings and discarded trees. We use a variety of hard woods, including hickory, maple, walnut, oak, birch and ironwood. All of our wood is kiln dried. Our finishes are all water-based.

In 1987, Andrew Brown left his corporate advertising job in New York City. Coming home to the woods of Michigan, he began Hearthwoods Rustic Furnishings. His first pieces were made using driftwood he found on the beach. His desire was to make furniture from reclaimed wood and discarded materials. Soon builders were calling him to take wood from cleared land used for new developement. He took down barns, and scoured the area for interesting antique industrial machinery. The mix of the industrial bases with antique reclaimed wood tops made for and elegant eco-friendly creation- a look that 23 years later is still gaining in popularity. Over the years, Andrew’s rustic furniture designs have evolved into an aesthetics that he calls "Urban Primitive." These custom designs are executed by Hearthwoods’ highly talented craftsmen in our Michigan based workshop. His work has been recognized by numerous national publications such as Architectural Digest, Country Living, and Mountain Living Magazine.

Our MissionHearthwoods' focus is on quality and beautiful styling using reclaimed materials that are locally gathered. Our goal is to create custom furnishings that will be cherished by generations to come.
