Tony Furtado started Horizon Log Works with the intention of bringing rustic log billiard tables and rustic furniture to his hometown of Montreal. Tony makes one of a kind billiard tables using wood from various parts of the United States and Canada. His billiard tables are made according to the specifications for competition tables but use character woods to bring a rustic look to your decor. The customer can choose wood type and size of table and Tony will make it to your order.

Tony Furtado was born and raised in Montréal, Québec. Of Portuguese descent, Tony started working with wood at an early age and learned his life’s passion at the Pat Wolfe Log Building School in Carleton Place, Ontario. His work has taken him to various places where he has honed and developed his skills as a log home builder and custom furniture maker.
Tony started his log building career working on a log project in Carbondale, Colorado building 6 log homes of various types and sizes. He built decorative log railings in Little Rock, Arkansas. He spent time in British Columbia building cedar log homes to ship to Japan. In Manitoba in an area called St. Theresa Point in Shimatowa, he built log homes for low-income families. Tony then returned to Carbondale, Colorado to build log furniture for a friend’s business. Tony also had the opportunity to work in Guadalajara, Mexico adding log accents to stucco homes.
Throughout his travels, Tony continued to build custom log furniture and custom made billiard tables using all different types of wood. He purchases forest service permits and goes to the forest to collect only fire killed or dead standing trees. Tony looks for unique twists and turns in Juniper wood from the forests of Colorado, cuts the dead standing trees down and transports them to Montreal where he uses his truly artistic creativity to make beds, tables and other home furnishings. Such species as Juniper from Colorado, Gnarly Pine from Wyoming and reclaimed woods such as Oak, Chestnut, Walnut and others are some of his preferred materials.
Tony and Mary Lou Furtado were delighted to bring their truly original and custom built rustic log furniture and billiard tables to the Montreal National Home Show on March 19-28, 2004. The attached photo shows their booth with a billiard table - made with Gnarly Pine from Wyoming; A table made with Juniper from Colorado with a 4ft. round glass top; and a queen sized bed made with Juniper from Colorado. The dresser is made from reclaimed woods. Frames, lamps, coffee tables and other accessories are all custom made to order.
