    Steam unit in the bathroom

I want to add a steam unit to our master bathroom shower stall.

Outside of having the steam unit installed, are there any other issues that we need to think about when adding a steam shower to a bathroom?

The main issue is dealing with the extra steam. You'll be generating a lot of steam that needs be contained, enjoyed and then removed from the bathroom. Also, permits need to be pulled and all local codes followed.

Basically, here are a few things to consider: First, look into installing a special steam enclosure shower door in place of your current shower door or curtain. Steam shower doors have an extra glass panel above and across the top of the door to help contain the steam. For odd shower sizes, you may need custom glass work.

Second, enjoy the experience with a removable shower seat you can easily place inside the stall when needed.

Finally, look into increasing the size of your bathroom exhaust fan, or add a second exhaust fan to help remove the extra moisture generated by the new steam unit. If you're not sure about the correct fan size, consult a licensed HVAC contractor to help clear the fog on the issue.
