Rating: 5 votes, 5.00 average.
Considering how the economy fares nowadays, people are often working on a shoestring budget. Be it for groceries, daily meal budget, or shopping, you have probably set yourself to work within your financial means. But what do you do when you want to indulge in a few luxuries such as redesigning your outdoors?

Buying brand-new outdoor furniture is expensive. It will also cost you a lot of time, since you have to canvass the pieces that would follow your overall theme. The good news is you don’t have to push yourself to your financial limit just so you’ll have better furniture for your patio or backyards. You can actually make them.

Here are three do-it-yourself or DIY recycled pieces of outdoor furniture that you can use as inspiration:

1. Pallet Sofa and Crate Coffee Table

Who would have thought that pallets and wooden crates would become this beautiful? Norway-based Nina Holst is fond of creating DIY furniture from random pieces of wooden materials she finds in flea markets and garage sales.

For this particular project, Holst used two pallets, throw pillows, wooden crates, flowers, and candle holders. Her article did not really show a step-by-step guide, since she didn’t overhaul the pallets and the crates. All she did was adorn them with various accessories.

2. Hanging Daybed

When the weather is favorable on a lazy weekend, some would rather spend time in their backyard and enjoy the sun. Ana White created a hanging bed specially made for the outdoors. She gave a complete list of materials that you would need, as well as full instructions on creating this outdoor furniture. Using this bed, you can simply lie down, read a book, or snooze off while the wind gently breathes on you.

3. Pallet Table

The authors of Far Out Flora created an excellent table out of a pallet and table legs. Due to the additional flourishing of plants, they called their project the “DIY Succulent Pallet Table.” All you need are pallet boards, 2x4 sized boards, the table legs, and the necessary tools.

Leave space for the middle of the tabletop, since this will be where you’ll be planting the succulent plants. For this project, they used Sempervivum, Sedum, and Orostachys iwarenge. If you prefer to choose your own plants, you can do so.

With these designs, you can save up and save the environment as well. You're not only saving yourself some money, you're also contributing to the worldwide efforts of recycling old materials. Feel free to show us photos of your DIY recycled furniture projects.
